Kygo Health is an iOS and Android app that connects AI food logging to your wearable data and shows how what you eat affects your sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, energy, and recovery. It syncs with Oura Ring, Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, WHOOP, and Health Connect, then runs statistical correlation analysis between your nutrition and your biometrics.
Food logging and wearable syncing are free. Premium, which unlocks the correlation engine, costs $9.99 per month or $39.99 per year with a 7 day free trial on the yearly plan.
That is the short version. This post covers everything else people ask before downloading: exactly what the app does, which devices it works with, what the free tier includes, what Premium adds, and how the correlation engine actually works.
What the Kygo Health app does
Most calorie counters stop at "you ate 2,100 calories today." Kygo starts there. The app exists to answer a different question: which specific foods and nutrients are helping or hurting your sleep, recovery, and energy?
To do that, it needs two streams of data. You log what you eat, and your wearable records how your body responds. Kygo lines the two up across different time windows, same day and several days later, and surfaces patterns graded by statistical confidence. Instead of generic advice, you get findings from your own data, like "your sleep latency increases 8 minutes when you consume caffeine after 3 pm." The founder story behind this approach is in Why I Built Kygo Health.
How Kygo Health works in three steps
Connect a wearable. Click, sign in, approve. Your historical data syncs automatically in the background, so day one already has context.
Log your food. Photo, voice, barcode, or plain text. Most entries take about 20 seconds. Meals you log repeatedly become one tap templates.
Get correlations. After about 7 days of combined food and wearable data, first patterns appear. Higher confidence correlations emerge around day 14 and keep improving as your dataset grows.
Six ways to log food
Logging friction is why roughly 80 percent of people quit food tracking apps. Kygo attacks that directly with six input methods:
Photo: snap your meal and the AI identifies foods and portion sizes.
Barcode: scan packaged food for full nutrition facts.
Voice: say "two eggs with avocado and whole grain toast" and it converts to structured nutrition data.
Natural text: type the same way you talk, no database digging required.
Saved meals and templates: frequent meals become one tap entries.
Automatic import: nutrition logged in other apps that write to Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) flows into Kygo automatically.
Behind the scenes, Kygo weighs evidence from multiple databases (USDA FoodData Central, Edamam, and Open Food Facts for barcodes) plus the AI estimate, and picks the most accurate values rather than the first match.
Nutrition tracking beyond calories
The daily nutrition card shows live progress toward calorie, protein, carb, and fat goals. Under the hood the tracking goes deeper than most apps:
Full micronutrient tracking: vitamins and minerals plus caffeine and alcohol, measured against recommended daily intake.
USDA enrichment: many food sources report calories and macros but leave micronutrients blank. Kygo backfills those gaps with USDA data so your micronutrient picture is complete instead of full of holes.
Personalized macro goals calculated from your profile (age, weight, height, sex, activity level, weight goal) with a live preview as you adjust, or set fully custom targets.
Water and weight tracking with trends over time.
Serving sanity checks: the app validates your chosen quantity and unit against what the food actually comes in, so "1 serving" does not quietly become a wildly wrong portion.
If you are switching from another tracker, you do not lose your habit: anything logged in apps that write to Apple Health or Health Connect flows into Kygo automatically, so food logged elsewhere still counts toward your day.
Which wearables Kygo Health supports
Kygo has six integrations:
Oura Ring (sleep, HRV, readiness, temperature, heart rate, activity)
Apple Health (iOS)
Health Connect (Android)
Fitbit
Garmin
WHOOP
You can connect one device or several. With multiple wearables, Kygo picks the most trustworthy source per metric instead of double counting, for example Oura or WHOOP for sleep and recovery, Apple Health or Garmin for steps and activity. If you are deciding which device to trust in the first place, our wearable accuracy breakdown of 17 studies across 6 devices compares them metric by metric.
What the correlation engine finds
Each correlation is graded by strength, outliers are filtered so one bad night does not skew results, and you only see patterns the math is confident about. Findings are organized per health metric: sleep, HRV, readiness, stress, resting heart rate, and more. Within each metric you see which foods and nutrients are helping versus hurting.
Examples of the kind of patterns it can surface from your data: sleep latency rising with late caffeine, HRV higher on days without late evening sugar, deep sleep longer after high protein dinners. Some patterns only become visible after 30 or more days because they need to repeat before the app will show them.
There is also an Experiments feature: pick a change, like cutting caffeine after 2 pm or adding magnesium at dinner, and Kygo tracks your compliance alongside the metrics that matter so you can see whether the change actually moved the needle.
What you see before correlations appear
The first week is not a blank screen. The Today dashboard gives you a logging streak, live nutrition progress, water and weight, your latest wearable metrics, and quick add tiles for camera, barcode, saved foods, and voice. Trends show each wearable metric and your macros over time with status flags for improving, holding steady, or sliding. Correlations are the payoff, but the app is a full tracker from day one.
Notifications are deliberately unannoying: meal reminders are time and day aware and skip themselves if you already logged that meal. You also get a push when a metric has enough data to unlock its first insights, and a heads up if a wearable connection drops so you can reconnect in one tap.
Kygo Health pricing
The free tier includes food logging with all six input methods, wearable syncing, and nutrition tracking with macro and micronutrient targets. No credit card required, and the free tier is yours to keep.
Premium unlocks the correlation engine, personalized insights, factor pinning, and experiment tracking. It costs $9.99 per month or $39.99 per year, which works out to about 67 percent less than paying monthly. The yearly plan starts with a 7 day free trial. Billing runs through the App Store or Google Play, and you can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the billing period.
Privacy and your data
Kygo does not sell your data to third parties and does not use it for advertising. Wearable access runs through each platform’s permission model, Apple HealthKit on iOS and Health Connect on Android, so you authorize exactly what the app can read and can revoke it anytime. You can export all your data whenever you want, and deleting your account permanently removes your data from Kygo’s servers.
Free research tools on kygo.app
Beyond the app, Kygo publishes 20 free, study cited research tools at kygo.app/tools: wearable accuracy comparisons, sleep and HRV factor explorers, calorie burn accuracy calculators, and more. None of them require signup. The full list with descriptions is in our free tools directory. If you use an Oura Ring, the Oura food tracking guide shows how the app fills Oura’s nutrition gap.
Who Kygo Health is for
Kygo fits people who already track something, a ring, a watch, a band, and want the numbers to add up to decisions. If you have ever wondered why your HRV dropped this week or whether late meals are wrecking your deep sleep, that is the exact question the app was built to answer. It is a general wellness product, not a medical device, and it is designed for pattern discovery rather than diagnosis.
